COLOMBIAN FAMILY WELFARE INSTITUTE
AN ENTITY THAT ASSISTS THE AMERICAN FAMILIES

We invite you to learn about one of the most representative institutions of the country, the Colombian Family Welfare Institute, and entity ascribed to the Social Protection Ministry.

In 1968 answering the problems such as the nutritional deficiency of the disintegration and instability of the family, and the loss of values of the abandoned childhood, the Institute was born in order to strengthen the integration and the harmonic development of the family, to protect and guarantee to the children, girls and adolescents their rights.

Currently around 10 million Colombians receive the services of the ICBF, which is currently located in each one of the departments capital. Also, it accounts with 203 zone centers which are service points to assist the population of all the country´s municipalities.
In this way, it is possible to give a closer and participative attention to the children and girls, adolescents, adults and families of the urban, rural, native and Afro-Colombians.

FIRST CHILDHOOD, CHILDREN AND GIRLS OF LESS THAN 6 YEARS OLD
+ community homes of traditional welfare, FAMI, multiple and entrepreneurial
+ children homes
+ community gardens
+ maternal infantile: help to the pregnant and nursing mothers, and children and girls less than 6 years old
+ nursing and pre-scholars: integral development of the children and girls between three to six years old
+ nutritional recovering
+ infantile breakfast
+ attention to the children and girls of mothers in a reclusion situation

GIRLS, CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS BETWEEN 7 TO 17 YEARS
+ pre- youth and youth clubs
+ nutritional assistance to the scholar and adolescent

OLDER ADULT
+ national program of feeding for the older adult “Juan Luis Londoño De La Cuesta”.
